Engineering Tech (Robotics)

 2021 - 2022

Welcome to the Engineering Tech (Robotics) Course.  In order to guarantee that your child will have another successful school year, I am sending home a copy of the policies for my classroom. During the first week of school, I will go over the policies and rules and students will be directed to return signed copy to class.  Please ensure that you have read and signed the handout. 

 

Overview of course:

This is a very intensive course that will require a total of 4 certification tests (Fundamentals of Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science.  The goal is for students to apply the certificates they have received in building and programming basic robots.

 

Supplies Needed:

A 1-inch, three-ring binder or a plastic folder (3 prongs, two pockets)/ Lined notebook paper/ Pencils or Pens/

Scientific Calculator. 

                                               

Tutoring:  I am available for tutoring in the Monday thru Wednesday morning from 8:40 to 9:15am in my room.  (Unavailable time would be for required meetings or Parent Teacher conferences)

 

5 Simple Rules:

  • Be Prompt, be on time

  • Be Prepared have your needed materials as well as any assignments.

  • Be Courteous to all in the classroom. 

  • Be Responsible for yourself.

  • Be Motivated….give it your best and never give up.  Attitude means a lot in this course.

 

Disciplinary Actions: (Note: Some behavior may require an immediate referral)

  1. Warning

  2. Seat Change

  3. Parent Contact /Teacher Note

  4. Disciplinary Referral

 

Conduct Grade: 

E – Few if any behavior problems          

S – Corrects any behavior problems if spoken to/disciplined

N – Two or more steps in a behavior plan are needed

U – One or more referrals for class behavior

 

Grading Policy:

Grades will be divided into three categories:

  • 40% Major Grades – This will include tests, and may include major projects.

  • 35% Intermediate Grades – This will include quizzes, small projects, folder checks.

  • 25% Minor Grades - This will include any daily assignments, bell work, and class participation.

 

 

No Name Papers (HNMS Policy):

  • If the students does NOT have his first and last name on the paper, then it is a zero..

 

Textbooks:

In lieu of a textbook, I will be providing printed copies of each lesson to be kept in their folders. 

 

Electronic Devices Policy:

Cell phones should be on silent and not visible in the classroom unless there is a direct instructional need.

 

Make-up work:

When a student is absent, it is the responsibility of the student to make-up work which is missed.  Students should look on the calendar on my website to find the assignments and come see me for handouts.  All assignments should be made up within 3 days of the student’s return to class.  Please see me about arranging a time to make up any quizzes and tests.

 

Student Planners:

Students are given planners and they are expected to begin each class period by copying the topic and any assigned homework which is written on the white board. The student planner is an excellent way for the parent to maintain a daily log of the child’s work.
